ANATA Is Recording Their First New Album Since 2006

The legendary Swedes rise again!

Anata

Asking for a new Anata record was a lot like asking for a new Necrophagist record for a while – everyone wanted it, and it didn't seem like it was happening. Except now it is.

Anata took to Facebook roughly two weeks ago to reveal that guitarist and vocalist Fredrik Schälin is in the studio recording vocals for the band's first album since The Conductor's Departure in 2006. No word on when the record is due out, but here's hoping 2024 is the year!

Anata formed in 1993 and released four records between 1998 and 2006. The band recently celebrated their 30th anniversary, giving fans a brief history of their evolution in a recent post.

"Before we forget, it's 30 years since Anata was formed," wrote Anata in a post. "Time flies, although it doesn't exactly feel like yesterday. When we started in 1993, we didn't quite have a clear vision of what type of music we were going to play. We just knew that it was going to be heavy. So whatever we listened to at the time went into the pot.

"Our first song sounded a bit like Megadeth. Some melodic elements were there from the start, rooted in 80's hard rock, singer-songwriter, and Fredrik's thing for writing on the piano. Other influences in metal were Slayer, Pantera and Sepultura. Our somewhat groovy thrash period lasted about five songs and was over within a year.

"Enter Carcass, At the gates, Deicide and most importantly, Morbid Angel. The gates literally opened wide. And then of course, things would never be the same again."
